Katia & Matthew | A Black & White Garden Affair with a Twist

Sleek, modern, and oh-so-romantic, Katia & Matthew’s riverside celebration at Matilda Bay Restaurant was the definition of minimal done right. With an elegant black-and-white palette, dreamy garden styling, and personal touches throughout, this wedding felt like a modern editorial come to life (but with all the heart 🖤).’

The Ceremony: City Elegance at Moana Hall

Before the river views, there was romance in the city. Katia & Matthew exchanged vows in the stunning surrounds of Moana Hall, keeping things sweet, intimate, and effortlessly stylish.

The Marquee Moment: Roses + River Views

At Matilda Bay, guests were welcomed into a custom-built marquee featuring a ribbed white bridal table, 100 single-stem roses (yes, 100!), and an aesthetic that was sleek yet soft. The design followed a modern garden vibe, minimal in palette, maximum in mood.

Cocktail Hour Goals

Let’s talk alfresco dreams:

  • Velvet lounges from Event Artillery
  • Festoon lighting by Festoon Lighting
  • White scallop umbrellas by Brelli Co
  • Arch mirror signage from Blanc on Briggs
  • And a statement white gloss dance floor by Dance Floor Co that pulled the whole scene together.

This cocktail hour didn’t just fill time, it set the tone.

Reception Under the Stars

Guests dined under the marquee on two long tables, styled with:

  • Romantic candlelight
  • A photobooth moment
  • Custom black velvet ribbon place cards
  • Statement pendant lighting overhead

Every detail was intentional, from the personalised black and white rock candy jars to the balance of modern minimalism and inviting warmth.

Why We Loved It

This wedding was proof that you don’t need “more” to make magic, just the right elements, beautifully styled, and totally true to you. A little city elegance, a little riverside romance, and a whole lot of chic, Katia & Matthew’s day was timeless with a twist, and we were so proud to bring it to life.
